DAY 1: Start of Trek, from Ammeralik Fjord to Itinnera

 The trek begins along the coastline, where you can take in the stunning views of the sea and surrounding cliffs as we make our way toward the inner land.

As we journey inland, we’ll tackle the ascent over the mountain ridge known as Sulussuutaasaq. This ridge offers spectacular panoramic views of the fjord and the pristine wilderness. With the sun shining down on us throughout the day, make sure to savor the warmth—just a reminder that the Arctic can surprise you!

After a rewarding climb, we’ll descend toward Itinnera, a cozy cabin area used by locals. Here, the landscape becomes lush and inviting as we approach a gentle river filled with Arctic trout. As we set up camp near the riverbank, you’ll have an excellent opportunity to try your hand at traditional handfishing, just like the locals do. Grab a pair of cotton gloves, and see if you can catch our dinner while enjoying the refreshing sounds of the flowing water.

As the sun begins to dip behind the mountains, we’ll gather around for a delicious dinner, featuring some fresh fish if fortunes smile upon us! Share stories and laughter with fellow trekkers, all while surrounded by the stunning backdrop of the mountains and river. After dinner, you can unwind, perhaps taking a moment to fish a little more as twilight settles in. As night falls, we’ll retreat to our tents, wrapped in the beauty of the Arctic wilderness, well-rested for the adventures that await on the following days.

Trekking time: 7-10 hours. 

DAY 2: Retracing last leg Itinnera and Wilderness Restaurant

After a satisfying breakfast by the river, we’ll pack up our camp and retrace the last leg of yesterday’s journey back to familiar territory. The peaceful sounds of nature and the refreshing aroma of the Arctic wilderness 

As we descend, we’ll pivot northward toward our next destination—Qooqqut another charming cabin area where you can experience a taste of local hospitality. Enjoy the scenic trek around the majestic mountain of Qaarusuk, characterized by its imposing presence and striking rock formations. Keep your eyes peeled for wildlife and take in the panoramic landscapes as we navigate the terrain.

Upon arrival in Qooqqut, we’ll have the chance to visit a local restaurant nestled in the cabin area. Don’t forget your wallet if you’re in the mood for a cold beer and some hearty food! Sit back, relax, and savor a well-deserved meal while mingling with other travelers and locals who share your passion for adventure.

After our refreshing break, we’ll set up camp nearby, enjoying the serene atmosphere of the area. As the sun sets, casting golden hues across the mountains, unwind and reflect on the day’s explorations.

Trekking time: 5-6 hours

DAY 3: Trekking from Qooqqut to Sulugssugutip Kangerlua

After a cozy evening in Qooqqut, we’ll rise to the fresh Arctic air and enjoy a hearty breakfast—because nothing fuels adventure quite like a decent breakfast and a cup of something warm! With spirits high and excitement bubbling, we’ll break camp and set our compass northeast toward Sulugssutip Kangerlua, our next destination deep within the fjord.

The trek begins as we move through a magnificent valley, surrounded by towering peaks and stunning landscapes. The gradual ascent will get our hearts pumping, but don’t worry; the views will take your breath away (so you might want to save those gasps for later!). As we tackle the terrain, we’ll share laughs and maybe a few jokes about our questionable life choices that led us to hike through remote wilderness with nothing but snacks and our trusty water bottles.

After a couple of hours of steady climbing, we’ll finally reach the pass, where sweeping views of the fjord unfold before us. It’s the perfect spot for a group photo—just be ready to outshine everyone in your best hiking pose! As we begin our descent toward the seaside again, keep your eyes peeled for any sneaky wildlife. Who knows, maybe a curious reindeer will try to photobomb your next shot!

Upon reaching Sulugssutip Kangerlua, we’ll set up camp by the water’s edge. After another day of putting one foot in front of the other, we’ll gather for a warm dinner as the sun begins to dip below the horizon, creating a stunning backdrop for our culinary creations. Share stories of triumph and misadventure, laugh about your hiking fails, and maybe even compete for the title of “Best Snack Hoarder.

With full bellies and happy hearts, you’ll climb into your tent, eager for another day of adventure and maybe contemplating how to seamlessly incorporate hiking into your daily routine

Trekking time: 5-7 hours

DAY 4: Trekking from Sulugssutip Kangerlua to Ikkarluit

After a fulfilling night of rest, you’ll wake up to the soft sounds of water lapping against the shore. Enjoy a nourishing breakfast and prepare for the day’s journey toward ikkarluit.

Today’s trek takes you along the fjord’s edge, offering breathtaking views of the shimmering waters on one side and towering cliffs on the other. The trail winds through lush valleys and rocky outcrops, providing ample opportunities to spot wildlife, including seabirds and perhaps a curious seal.Midway through the trek, we’ll take a break at a scenic overlook to enjoy a packed lunch while soaking in the stunning surroundings. 

As you continue, you’ll experience a blend of challenging terrain intermixed with rewarding vistas.Upon reaching ikkarluit, you’ll find yourself getting closer to the cultural heritage there has been in this part of the fiord. Set up camp nearby and, if you’re keen, .As evening falls, gather for dinner, indulge in stories of the day’s adventures, and marvel at the magnificent sunset painting the fjord in vibrant hues.

Trekking time: 6-8 hours

DAY 5: Trekking from Ikkarluit to Camp 5 (Sarqaa) near Kapisillit

After breakfast to fuel your day, we’ll break camp and set out for an exciting trek toward Camp 5, located near the charming village of Kapisillit. Today’s journey offers a fascinating blend of history, culture, and stunning natural beauty.

As we begin our trek, we`ll pass by the remnants of an old reindeer farm that was active during the 1950s and 60s. Your guide will share stories about the farm’s history and its importance to the local community, painting a vivid picture of life in this remote area. Keep your eyes peeled for any signs of wildlife as you walk—who knows, you might even spot a reindeer or two!

Upon reaching Camp 6, situated just nearby the village, you’ll find an idyllic camping spot with a breathtaking view overlooking Kapisillit Fjord. Settle in and take a moment to relax, soaking in the serene surroundings.

As evening approaches, gather for a delicious dinner while enjoying the tranquil sights and sounds of nature. Share your reflections on the day’s adventures and swap stories about the old reindeer farm with fellow trekkers.

As the sun sets, casting a warm glow across the fjord, spend some time enjoying the peaceful atmosphere before retreating to your tents for a good night’s rest, eager for the adventures that await on the final two legs of your journey.

DAY 6: Salmon River and Inuit Village

Today we’ll make our way to our final camp, nestled by Greenland’s only river known to have a population of salmon. 

As you trek, your guide will share insights into the significance of the salmon river, highlighting its unique ecosystem and the role it plays in the local environment. Keep an eye out for wildlife along the route, as you may spot birds hunting for fish or other animals that call this area home.

After a rewarding hike, we’ll arrive at Camp 6, beautifully located along the banks of the salmon river. Settle in and take a moment to appreciate the tranquil sounds of flowing water— a perfect backdrop as you prepare for your last two nights in the wilderness.

Optionel: We’ll take a leisurely walk to the nearby village of Kapisillit. This charming settlement is a perfect opportunity to experience local culture and community life. You can stroll through the village, meet friendly residents, and learn about their way of life in this remote part of Greenland.

DAY 7: Kapisillit area & Sheep Farm Visit

This day we offer several options for you to explore the stunning surroundings at your own pace. You can choose to hike gently through the rolling foothills and majestic mountains framing the fjord, taking in spectacular views and keeping an eye out for local wildlife. We also offer the unique opportunity to visit a nearby sheep farm where you can learn about traditional Greenlandic farming life and culture. 

As evening falls, reflect on the incredible journey you’ve undertaken with your fellow trekkers. Share stories, laugh over the day’s highlights, and absorb the peaceful atmosphere of your final camp night.

DAY 8: See, Feel and Listen to the Kangersuneq Icefjord

This day is designed to provide a meaningful and memorable conclusion to your immersive adventure. The trail will take you through diverse landscapes, leading you closer to the fascinating Kangersuneq Ice fjord. As you trek, keep your senses alert—listen for the cracking of ice and look for the awe-inspiring views that unfold before you. The sight of the rugged mountain peaks is an unforgettable experience that captures the essence of Greenland’s wild beauty.

After enjoying the view, the feel and the sound of the icefjord, we’ll return and prepare for our boat pickup to transfer out through the stunning scenery of the world’s second-largest fjord system. As you cruise through the frosty waters, take in the majestic surroundings one last time, watching for any wildlife that may make an appearance and reveling in the connectivity of nature.

Upon arrival in Nuuk, the vibrant capital of Greenland, you’ll have a chance to explore a bit of the city if time allows. Take in the colorful buildings, local culture, and perhaps savor a delicious meal at a local restaurant to celebrate your adventure. As your incredible trek comes to a close, carry with you not just the memories of breathtaking landscapes but also the friendships and stories that will last a lifetime. This journey through the wild fjords of Greenland is sure to leave a lasting mark on your heart.

Where do we meet and depart?

We meet at The Tide Stair (Tidevandstrappen) by the Harbour.

How do I get to the meeting point?

Either take the bus no. 2and get off at Qatserisut bus stop, and walk down to the Tide Stair by the harbour. Or take a taxi to the Tide Stair.

What should I bring?

  • Layered clothing

    • Insulating midlayer (e.g. down or fleece jacket)

No, but we will bring toilet paper and a shovel.

This depends on where we are, there may be phone reception in some of the route.

Can I bring and drink alcohol on the trip?

Yes, you are allowed to. Please for safety, drink responsibly and respect the rest of the group.

What happens if it’s bad weather?

We keep an eye on forecasts, and will inform the guests in time.
